One of the ringleaders of the romantic comedy renaissance on Netflix, Set It Up caught on like wildfire in the summer of 2018. Zoey Deutch stars as Harper Moore, the assistant to online sports editor Kirsten Stevens). Exhausted with her tireless, Harper meets Charlie Young (Glen Powell), the assistant venture capitalist Rick Otis (Taye Diggs). Together, the pair formulate a plan to make their underpaid jobs more tolerable by setting up their bosses and improving their moods. Along the way, Harper and Charlie grow closer and find getting their bosses together isn’t the only set up.

Set It Up quickly became a sensation on Netflix as a feel-good rom-com that were so few and far between in the changed, Marvel-fied film landscape. The film holds a stellar 92% on Rotten Tomatoes as critics pointed out that sticking to and building on the formulaic customs of classic romantic comedies worked in its favor. Also, it doesn’t hurt that Set It Up features four leading actors with chemistry and charisma to spare. Since its release in 2018, a potential sequel has been left up in the air. But one thing’s for sure, Set It Up is a must-watch that shouldn’t be forgotten.
