Must-watch movies on Netflix: My Week with Marilyn

Michelle Williams is one of the greatest working actresses of our time, and that’s simply the truth. In every movie she stars in, she’s impossible to look away from with performances that just hit you in the gut. My Week with Marilyn found Williams stepping into the iconic likeness of movie star and pop culture mainstay Marilyn Monroe. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark, a production assistant on Monroe’s film The Prince and the Showgirl, who spends a week with the Hollywood fixture as the battles with pressure, identity and heartbreak.

My Week with Marilyn earned Williams her second of four Academy Award nominations, though she would ultimately win a Golden Globe for her performances as Marilyn Monroe. Upon release, critics positively responded to the film, and it performed modestly at the box office as an indie awards season entry. Williams has since gone on to appear in blockbusters and win an Emmy for the FX limited series Fosse/Verdon, but as her earliest work in Dawson’s Creek comes to Netflix in November, it’s the best time to marvel at her transformation into a true Hollywood legend.
