Will the Sanderson Sisters return for Hocus Pocus 2?

Good news for Hocus Pocus fans! The Sanderson Sisters might reunite once again for the Disney Plus sequel, Hocus Pocus 2.

Bette Midler, who played the witty Winifred Sanderson, recently did an interview with “Good Day New York.” She pretty much confirmed she and her sister co-stars, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will be back for the second movie.

Here’s what she said in the interview:

"They want to make a movie. They’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes. I’m game, I’m totally game."

When Collider first broke the news that there would be a Hocus Pocus sequel, Disney hadn’t confirmed the three actresses would return but were hopeful they’d be a part of the project.

The news hasn’t been officially confirmed by Disney yet, but I doubt Midler would have said anything if she wasn’t sure. We still don’t have many details about the new film and how involved the three sisters will be.

I’m really hoping instead of recasting the main roles to a new trio, the sequel’s main villains will once again be Midler, Parker and Najimy. They’ve put a spell on us from the very start and I don’t know who could play the Sanderson Sisters better than these ladies.

I’m generally not a big fan of sequels. Usually, the original movie is always better. It can also be tricky when many years have passed between the original and sequel. It’s already been 27 years since Hocus Pocus first hit theaters and we still don’t know when the second will start streaming.

This classic Halloween movie is one of my favorites, so of course I’ll be giving the sequel a chance. Especially now that the three original Sanderson Sisters will be a part of it, how could I not?

And if you just can’t wait to see our three favorite actresses reunite, you’re in luck! On Oct. 30, they will be back together for a virtual reunion benefiting Midler’s nonprofit, NYRP.
