Mindhunter took us all by surprise. At the time of the season 1 premiere, Netflix had already established itself as a crime drama champ, but Mindhunter revolutionized the genre even further. The dark series toys with your mind. Rather than depending on violence, Mindhunter uses real fears and psychological thrills to scare audiences. And it works!

A third season would have been amazing this month to complete our Halloween watch list, but the wait continues and it may be infinite.

Can the year 2020 stop bringing bad news our way? According to the report, David Fincher, the series executive producer, is not sure when, if ever, they will “revisit” the crime-drama. Why is that?

Mindhunter will not be renewed for season 3 at Netflix

According to the source, Fincher isn’t saying Mindhunter season 3 is never happening, but he’s not very hopeful. And based on the interview, he doesn’t seem very optimistic about continuing the series, either.

Fincher’s reply to whether he is done with the Netflix series was a simple “I think probably.” He expands by explaining that the series was expensive to make for the viewership it had. Simply put, Fincher doesn’t believe the production budget is there, stating that his team needs to consider how “dollars have to equal to eyeballs,” according to Vulture.

While I understand Fincher’s reasoning, I believe the crew owes fans a proper conclusion. There were still so many more cases to tell and we were left with many mysteries concerning the stories of the two leads.

Let’s hope the producer reconsiders in a couple of years, though with the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s not likely as even popular shows with larger audiences are struggling to put new episodes together.
