Sci-fi movies on Netflix: TAU (2018)
Artificial Intelligence may seem like a good idea in theory, but almost every time its portrayed in films, things go very wrong. The movie industry has never failed to reinvent ways of making AI terrifying, from Hal 9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey to Skynet in the Terminator films. So it makes Sense Netflix would have an original film looking to tell their own horrifying tale of terror regarding the concept and thrust audiences into the chilling, claustrophobic thriller, TAU. The sci-fi thriller features a stellar cast including Academy Award winner Gary Oldman, Deadpool star Ed Skrein and It Follows scream queen Maika Monroe in what can be described as a worst-case scenario regarding the felling technology, hopefully.
The science fiction motion picture produced by David S. Goyer, known for his work on The Dark Knight and Man of Steel, follows Monroe’s character Julia, a thief who is abducted one night waking up in a cell with some kind of implant in the back of her neck along with two other subjects. They are subjected to several sessions of psychological torture, and after an escape attempt, Julia is told this is all part of an experiment involving a new AI called TAU. When her captor is away, she bonds with the AI, trading information bout the house she is held captive for knowledge of the outside world. Oldman provides the voice of the AI, adding a meaning flair to the all-powerful program, and the visuals utilized to display the digital force to be reckoned with are genius, resulting in a Netflix film subscribers should not miss out on.
