Sci-fi movies on Netflix: I Am Mother (2019)
If anyone has ever wondered what would happen in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are almost extinct, then the Netflix original film I Am Mother featuring the exemplary voice acting of rose Byrne with an exhilarating turn from Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank. But all is not lost in thanks to some baby-making bunkers, a surgically precise maternal robot, and a young girl is raised to be humanity’s last hope. But as she gets older, she begins to question things her robot mother has told her, and she continues to find clues hinting that there may be more life left on the planet than she was raised to believe. The plot thickens when Swank’s character arrives on the scene injured and helps the Robot’s human daughter start to see the truth.
This instantly riveting affair not only hosts great performances from its seasoned players but also exhibits a breakout run from Clara Regard as the character Daughter. But the Netflix original film’s real claim to fame is the Robot as it is an actual full-body suit that Like Hawker out on to make the Robot as believable and authentic as possible, adding significant value to this title over its competition. Packed to the brim with stunning visuals and twist-filled suspense, it’s no wonder I Am Mother is Certified Fresh with a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and that Variety compared it to something akin to James Cameron meets Ridley Scott.
