Sci-fi movies on Netflix: iBoy (2010)

The 2010 Netflix original film iBoy takes the concept from the classic 1969 Disney film The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and asked the question what if someone with the ability to process infinite amounts of information as fast as a computer became a vigilante. This exceptional entry from the streaming giant features an excellent performance from Bill Milner, who savvy fans will recognize playing young Magneto in the 2011 film X-Men: First Class. Also in the mix is Game of Thrones Maisie Williams, adding significant value to the sci-fi feature with a terrific turn as Lucy Walker.

In the Netflix film, a crime wave takes London by storm, and when a teen named Tom walks in on some thugs assaulting his friend Lucy, an upgraded vigilante is born that threatens to destroy the criminal underbelly taking the United Kingdom’s capital by storm. Trying to escape the nefarious affair, the boy is shot in the heads with the bullet causing fragments from his cellphone to embed in his brain, giving him above-average digital powers. He can now access all sorts of useful information at lightning-fast speeds and sees the world with an Iron man-like digital interface giving him the egged in his mission to find those responsible for what happened that night. Between the impressive visual effects and perfectly paced tension, iBoy is a great sci-fi superhero film that has been slept on for too long by subscribers.
