Sci-fi movies on Netflix: Extinction (2018)

The best thing about the science fiction genre is its uncanny ability to reinvent itself no matter what story the film is trying to tell. So many intriguing narratives make up the realm of sci-fi, and one of the most popular is that of the alien invasion variety. But how do filmmakers and storytellers alike find ways to tell these stories of little green men coming to our planet with the insertion of world domination? Netflix’s Extinction is a fine example of taking the classic tale and molding it into something unique, giving viewers a much different experience than what they would usually suspect from this type of extraterrestrial invader flick.

This stirring story follows an engineer named something who begins to have visions of everyone diving in deferent scenarios from an alien invasion. This ordeal begins to take its toll on his family, so he seeks psychiatric help only to learn that he isn’t the only one having these issues. Then an alien invasion does occur, and the guy must do everything he can to protect his wife and daughters. But there is something off about these conquerors from another world, and the twist-filled story will undoubtedly keep Netflix subscribers enthralled until the unbelievable conclusion. Extinction stars Narcos: Mexico’s Michael Pena, Castle Rock’s Lizzy Caplan, and Luke Cage’s Mike Colter, all giving great performances making this a film subscribers should not sleep on any longer.
