There are quite a few Netflix original movies available on the streaming platform, and there are plenty more in the works. The genres of these films are varied, ranging across the board from horror, comedy, drama, action, fantasy, and romance. There are plenty of original Netflix movies to choose from. The real challenge is picking one from their vast collection to watch!

Some Netflix movies have won awards, while some of them go unnoticed in mainstream media. If you’re wondering whether or not Netflix movies are worth watching, then you’ve come to the right place.

Are Netflix movies worth watching?

Well, the answer really depends on your personal taste in entertainment. Some of their movies have me on the edge of my seat for the duration of the film, but there are others that I use as mindless background noise (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!).

For example, the animated film Klaus became one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time when it premiered on Netflix last year. Similarly, I have seen movies like The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile multiple times.

Critically acclaimed films like Roma, The Irishman, and Marriage Story are also Netflix originals that have drawn a lot of praise.

On the other hand, there are definitely some poorly written, badly acted movies on Netflix. I think most production companies have a few rotten apples in their archive, so that’s no surprise. In my opinion, the streaming platform’s biggest downfall is their selection of romantic comedies.

Films like The Kissing Booth and A Christmas Prince (and their sequels) could have used some serious rewrites before they began production.

All in all, there’s no harm in checking out Netflix’s collection of original movies. Who knows, you might even find your new favorite flick!
