The Trial of the Chicago 7 is one of the must-watch movies on Netflix

Are you struggling to find something to watch? Netflix has you covered with some excellent movies. It’s time to look at the must-watch movies on Netflix this weekend.

There is something for everyone. Whether you want a movie based on history or something for the whole family, there is plenty to check out and entertain. We’re narrowing the list down to just the top five picks.

The Trial of the Chicago 7

We’ll start with the movie based on a true story from the past. Not only is it directed by Aaron Sorkin, but it has an outstanding cast that includes Sasha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 tells the story of the 1969 trial of seven men charged with conspiracy and more. It all came from actions at the countercultural protests during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. It was a trial that sparked conversations around the country, and it remains an important topic in U.S. history.

A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting

One of the must-watch movies on Netflix is definitely for the whole family. A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting is based on the beloved book series of the same name. Harry Potter fans will definitely want to tune in to see Tom Felton play the villain.

When the Boogeyman kidnaps a boy a high schooler is looking after on Halloween, she is pulled into a secret society of babysitters. They’ve all had something like this happen in the past, and they will help her get the boy back.

Unfriended

Love horror movies? Looking for something scary this weekend? You’ll want to pay attention to Unfriended now on Netflix. Six friends get a message from one of their friends. That wouldn’t be all that strange except the friend is supposed to be dead.

Naturally, they think it’s a prank and ignore it. Maybe they shouldn’t do that.

This movie is interestingly filmed as it’s all through what you see on the webcam, which means a lot is left up to the imagination.

Moneyball

Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill star in the next selection on our list of must-watch movies on Netflix for this weekend. It’s all about Moneyball, which sees Billy Beane and Peter Brand join forces to reinvent his baseball team. The aim is to move from old-school selection methods to a sabermetric model that’s never been used before.

It’s a movie that was nominated for six Oscars. Whatever you think of the Awards shows, it’s still worth checking out what the hype was about.

Basic Instinct

Speaking of hype, if you have somehow missed Basic Instinct, you have a chance to watch it on Netflix. It’s one of the movies that dropped on the service at the start of the month, and it’s probably not going to stick around for too long. Use this weekend to check it out (or watch it again).

Basic Instinct stars Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas. Douglas is a detective investigating the murder of Johnny Boz. He’s sure Boz’s girlfriend had something to do with it, but it’s extremely hard to investigate as he starts to fall in love with her.
