Netflix has released the premiere date and trailer for Selena: The Series
Selena: The Series will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 4. This Netflix original will be a biographical drama about the life of Selena Quintanilla, the Tejano music legend.
Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) will play Selena, and from the looks of the teaser, she has Selena’s iconic look pegged. Selena was 23 years old and had achieved her dream of being a performer when she was shot and killed by her friend and president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. After her death, Selena’s album Dreaming of You debuted on the Billboard 200 list, making her the first Latin artist to accomplish this.
Con Todo, the Netflix Latinx Twitter page, released the teaser trailer and premiere date with the comment “Every Legend Begins with a Dream.”

Ricardo Antonio Chavira joins Serratos as her father, Abraham; Seidy Lopez will play her mother, Marcella; Gabriel Chavarria will play her brother, A.B.; and Noemi Gonzalez will play her sister, Suzette.
The series follows Selena and her family from her early years to her rise in fame. The whole Quintanilla family was involved in the music and made decisions together regarding the direction they would take.
The series will consist of two parts, with the first half spanning six hourlong episodes. Selena’s sister Suzette will serve as an executive producer for the series.
Jennifer Lopez starred in the film Selena in 1997 and did a fabulous job in her portrayal of the star. It will be interesting to see if the series devels deeper into the Quintanilla family’s lives than the film did.
Selena was also a fashion-forward young woman and had her own line of clothing. It will be fantastic to see all the fashion that will be featured in the series.
