Teenage Bounty Hunters has been canceled after just one season

There’s some disappointing news for fans of Teenage Bounty Hunters. Netflix has canceled the series after just one season.

Deadline was the first to report the news, hinting that the cancellation is due to ratings. The publication is quick to point out how Netflix shows work, and how the first season is the equivalent of a filmed pilot on broadcast shows.

This does bring up suggestions from viewers for Netflix to change the way it does things. Maybe a pilot should be filmed for subscribers to vote on instead of filming an entire season and wasting a lot of time.

It’s not like the show was slated, either. Both viewers and critics adored it, with it quickly becoming Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fans not happy with the decision to cancel Teenage Bounty Hunters

This is one of those shows that quickly gained approval from the LGBTQ+ community. On top of that, the show had some outlandish but entertaining storylines. While there were certainly some important topics raised, the focus of the show was entertainment.

Entertainment is certainly what it brought. We also had a huge cliffhanger at the end, leading to many fans immediately calling for a second season. Now we’re left wondering what would have happened.

A strong point of the series was that it didn’t have any major stars. Teenage Bounty Hunters was about giving new rising stars a chance. Maybe that didn’t help in gaining the viewers. After all, many people will follow specific actors or a big-named actor is often used in the promotion of a show.

Instead, Teenage Bounty Hunters relied on the promotion doing enough to gain an audience. Unfortunately, like Spinning Out, the promotion just wasn’t there for the series. It’s become one of those underrated gems that viewers will find in months or years to come and wonder why Netflix never renewed it.

The news comes on the same day that Netflix chose to reverse the GLOW season 4 renewal. It also comes after the reversed renewal of The Society and the cancellation of I Am Not Okay With This after just one season.
