As if it’s not already perfectly clear, there’s so much new release content worth watching coming this month that we’ll be attempting to clear out our watch lists throw at least Christmas. Between the October essentials to the various Netflix originals arriving throughout the weeks, those of us hungry for new titles to devour will be occupied until further notice. But it’s not all tricks and treats on Netflix this month. Fans of period pieces will definitely want to check out Rebecca, which ranks as one of the best new releases coming in October.

Based on Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 novel of the same name, Lily James stars in Rebecca as the newly married Mrs. de Winter, the new wife of widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer). After moving into his family estate in England, the young woman finds herself fighting the shadow of Rebecca, her husband’s first wife. Rebecca comes from director Ben Wheatley, who also directed such films as Down Terrace, Kill List, Sightseers, A Field in England, High-Rise, Free Fire and Happy New Year, Colin Burstead. Mark your calendars for the romantic thriller’s premiere on Oct. 21.
