If you’re not quite the Halloween type and aren’t into packing October full of horror movies, Netflix has something for you this month, too. Kicking off the holiday season-centric of original films a little early, Emma Roberts stars in Holidate, a romantic comedy perfect to add a dash of holiday spirit into the year. Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Luke Bracey) aren’t fans of the holidays (any and every holiday on the calendar), but after meeting on a mutually bad Christmas, the jaded pair vow to be each other’s “holidate” to survive all occasions they’re forced to endure.
Of course, while leaning on each other throughout the year to make it through certain holidays, they discover their shared dislike for spirited celebrations just might lead to love. Holidate comes from producer McG and director John Whitesell, who also directed such movies as Big Mommas House 2, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Deck the Halls and Thunderstruck. It sounds like the best bet to bridge the gap between Halloween and Christmas. Hopefully, there are more holiday rom-coms coming after Holidate makes its big premiere at the end of October.
