Just two months after its premiere in Australia, Wentworth season 8 is coming to Netflix tonight.

Everyone loves a good siege, and the creators of Wentworth gave us just that at the end of season 7. What many people seem to forget, though, is the intensity of the morning after. This is where Wentworth season 8 picks up: in the aftermath of the siege. And since the series ends next year, we can fully expect an onslaught in tonight’s 10-episode release.

There’s a ton going on this season on Wentworth. As you might have guessed from the closing moments of the last episode – “Under Siege, Part 2” – Joan Ferguson is back in the mix. Considering her initial departure, you can rest certain that she’ll be looking for revenge.

Wentworth season 8 is also going to introduce a few new characters. This season’s lineup will include a new general manager along with fresh-faced prisoners. Most of what we’ll be following will be directly related to the aftermath of the siege, but the new characters will undoubtedly add some serious conflict to the series.

With only 10 episodes in this season, most of us will be fiending for more by the time this weekend hits. Unfortunately, there’s no set date for when Wentworth season 9 is coming to Netflix. We currently know that the final season will air in 2021, but with the ongoing pandemic, this could be subject to change.

If you’re feeling a little down about the series coming to an end, it’s best to not fret just yet. After all, Wentworth season 8 was never even supposed to happen. Season 7 was meant to be the finale, but it was saved in the eleventh hour. So, who knows what the creators might have in store? Maybe the fans can squeeze another 10 episodes out of them.

There’s no doubt that Wentworth season 8 will be a stellar addition for all major fans. And for those who are just starting the series, it’s good to know that the magic created in the first seasons manages to carry over for nearly a decade.
