Netflix movies and shows: Julie and the Phantoms
Julie and the Phantoms is another series you might have missed this summer. It definitely wasn’t advertised as much as Ratched or The Devil All the Time. The series focuses on Julie, a teenage girl who, after playing an old CD of her mom’s, resurrects a 25-year-old band from the dead (the old CDs I would play if this was real). They were a 90s band called Sunset Curve and Julie ends up helping them become a success and joins the band as the lead singer.
Julie and the Phantoms stars Madison Reyes, Charlie Gillepsie, Owen Joyner, Jeremy Shada, Jada Marie, and Sacha Carlson and premiered on Netflix on Sept 10.
Once the band and her best friend, Flynn hear Julie’s voice, they immediately want her to try to get a spot in the school music program. She eventually agrees and her performance is incredible. This is what leads the guys to ask her to join the band. But something is weighing on Julie: she hasn’t told Flynn yet that the dudes are ghosts!
The band, now called Julie and the Phantoms, plays at the school dance and one of the ghost guys ends up having a crush on someone (how’s that going to work out??). But there is a catch to the ghosts being there. They have to complete whatever unfinished business that’s keeping them ghosts and they don’t have unlimited time to do it. There is a clock on how much time they have to get complete their mission
With the director of this series also being the director of High School Musical, you know the songs are going to be memorable. And the chemistry between Julie and the band of ghosts is off the charts.
But when the band isn’t there, can Julie perform on her own or will she still feel stuck? You’ll have to watch the whole season to find out!
