Enola Holmes is one of the five good Netflix movies to watch this weekend

Looking for something good to watch this weekend? These Netflix movies have you covered.

We’re at the end of September. How did that happen? Seriously, I want to know where the month went!

It’s been an excellent month for Netflix movies. These last two weeks especially have had some intriguing, humorous, and important movies. They certainly make our list of good movies to check out this weekend.

Enola Holmes

We have to start with the most talked-about movie of the week. Enola Holmes, starring Milly Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill, is a must. Based on the book series by Nancy Springer, we follow a young Enola, whose mother has gone missing. She needs to turn to her brothers, Mycroft and Sherlock Holmes.

Things don’t go quite as planned. Now needing to escape her brothers, she comes across a young lord who is on the run and needs her help.

It’s an excellent movie for the entire family.

The Devil All the Time

Need something a little more serious? How about a lot serious? The Devil All the Time is perfect for fans of the novel and those who love period movies that make you think.

Tom Holland stars as a young man who wants to protect his family. He’s willing to do whatever it takes in a town filled with hypocrites, murderers, and rapists. The movie has gained mixed reviews, but it’s worth watching for the standout cast.

Whose Vote Counts, Explained

With the November elections coming up, it’s important to understand democracy in the United States. After all, the 2016 Election certainly brought up questions of legitimacy within the democratic system, and there are questions about democracy this time around.

Whose Vote Counts, Explained is a full look at how voting works in the United States. It serves to help you find out more about how your vote is used and why it remains important.

Bad Teacher

Sometimes, you just want Netflix movies that will make you laugh. In this case, turn your attention to Bad Teacher, starring Cameron Diaz. She is a lazy middle school teacher who has pretty much given up on life.

When a new teacher comes to the school, she decides to seduce him. Will it all work out according to her plan?

A Love Song for Latasha

Finally, we have a movie that is essential for today’s social climate. A Love Song for Latasha is a fictionalized retelling that focuses on the life of Latasha  Harlins. Her life was tragically cut short in 1991 by a convenience store owner. This man believed Latasha had stolen a carton of orange juice, shooting her because of it. It happened at the same time as the Rodney King incident, sparking the L.A. Riots in 1992.

The movie reimagines her life. We get stories told by family members and friends close to her that makes many wonder if anything has actually changed.
