There are so many shows and movies on Netflix that just looking at all the choices can make your head spin. One such new additions is Real Steel, and after reading the synopsis I realized that I actually saw this movie in theaters when it premiered.

Based on the short story “Steel” written by Richard Matheson, Real Steel has incredibly visual effects and a heartwarming plot.

If you’re looking for something good to watch on Netflix this weekend, then you’re in luck. Here’s everything you need to know about the movie that’s currently #3 on the streaming platform’s Top 10 list.

Real Steel was released in the United States on October 7, 2011. The film is almost a decade old already!

Real Steel cast

Real Steel has a stellar cast. The film stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a former boxer with a gambling debt. Dakota Goyo plays Charlie’s son Max Kenton. Ant-Man actress Evangeline Lilly portrays Bailey Tallet, the daughter of Charlie’s old boxing coach. Anthony Mackie appears as Finn.

Other cast members include Olga Fonda, Karl Yune, Kevin Durand, Hope Davis, James Rebhorn, and Gregory Sims.

Real Steel synopsis

The movie takes place in a world where human boxers have been replaced by robot fighters. Charlie Kenton is a former boxer who is deep in debt after losing a bet. He is offered $100,000 to care for his estranged son Max for three months before handing over custody to the boy’s aunt.

In order to get back in the fighting game, Charlie and robot-boxing fan Max find and train an outdated bot called Atom. With the help of Charlie’s friend Bailey Tallet, they compete to win the money Charlie needs to settle his debts.

The film is rated PG-13 for some violence, intense action, and some language.
