Enola Holmes is the most enjoyable Netflix movie of 2020

Enola Holmes is now streaming on Netflix as of Wednesday, Sept. 23. The new Netflix movie is a must-watch for any fans of Millie Bobby Brown, star of the Netflix original series Stranger Things. It’s the most enjoyable Netflix movie of the year so far.

Enola Holmes is based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries by Nancy Springer. Millie Bobby Brown stars as Enola Holmes in the film, alongside Henry Cavill, who plays Sherlock Holmes, Sam Claflin, who plays Mycroft Holmes, and Helena Bohnam Carter, who plays Eudoria Holmes, Enola’s mother.

In the movie, Enola wakes up on her 16th birthday to discover her mother is missing. Instead of attending school, which her brothers try to force her to do, Enola escapes. Shortly after running away, she runs into Viscount Tewksbury, played by Louis Partridge, who is also a runaway. And, that’s where this mystery really gets going.

The game is afoot in this Netflix movie directed by Harry Bradbeer.

Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, and Susie Wokoma round out the rest of the supporting cast.

We’ve seen so many movies, TV shows and stories set in the world of Sherlock Holmes, but it’s clear we’ve never seen anything like this. It’s a different take set in this world, and I think it’s different enough for new fans to enjoy and similar enough to make Sherlock Holmes fans feel at home.

Millie Bobby Brown stars in Enola Holmes

Millie Bobby Brown is the true star of this movie. Enola is charismatic, strong, witty and so clever. I’m convinced Brown is the only actor who could pull off this role. Without Brown playing Enola, it’s hard to imagine what this movie would actually be.

Good thing we don’t have to worry about that. Brown carries Enola Holmes and delivers one of the best performances of her young career.

Brown is incredible as Eleven in Stranger Things; there’s no doubt about that. It appears Brown is going to carry another Netflix franchise as Enola Holmes. There are more books in Springer’s series. Based on how good this movie is, Netflix is going to make a bunch of Enola Holmes movies. It’s just going to happen, so get ready for more!

Brown isn’t the only young star of this movie, though. Louis Partridge is so talented and is surely on his way to stardom after his performance in this movie. He better be back in the sequels, as well.

Enola Holmes might not be the perfect movie. To me, the mystery leaves a little something to be desired. The twist wasn’t as big as I was hoping it could be. It’s still quite shocking, so that makes the pay-off that much better.

I also would have liked to see more Henry Cavill and Millie Bobby Brown going toe-to-toe as Sherlock and Enola, but that’s really neither here nor there. That could very easily happen in the next movies.

If you’re looking for a feel-good movie on Netflix to entertain you, make you laugh, and maybe even make you cry, Enola Holmes is the Netflix movie to watch right now.
