Will we get to see Eleven get her powers back in Stranger Things season 4?

Eleven, also known as El, is the fan favorite among many Stranger Things fans, and the character, played by Millie Bobby Brown, is probably the most important character in the series because of her powers and extraordinary abilities. When El loses her powers in Stranger Things season 3, it’s a major shock.

Eleven’s powers have been the subject of much debate among fans, and we don’t expect that to die down anytime before Stranger Things season 4.

Let’s recap why Eleven loses her powers before moving on to the possibility of her powers returning in Stranger Things season 4, whenever it hits Netflix.

Why El loses her powers in Stranger Things

At the end of Stranger Things season 3, Eleven loses her powers after an epic battle with The Mind Flayer that leaves her wounded. When the gang arrives at the Starcourt Mall, El still has her powers, and she uses them to flip a car at the Russians, who are searching for Steve, Robin, Dustin and Erica.

Then, when that thing starts moving around in her leg, she loses her powers for good, and the Hawkins heroes are forced to battle The Mind Flayer and the Russians without her abilities.

We don’t know exactly why El loses her powers in the first place. There are many theories about Eleven’s powers, but the general consensus is that it has something to do with what happened when The Mind Flayer “bit” her and infected her blood.

It’s possible that The Mind Flayer somehow messed up how Eleven uses her telekinetic abilities.

I’m not sure if it’s that simple. My guess is that Eleven, who did not have an unlimited tank to use her powers, got tired at the end of Stranger Things season 3. That battle in the cabin and then the trauma of her own blood, basically, attacking her and the pain that caused likely resulted in El’s powers being depleted for a time.

Then, we have to remember what happened next. Billy sacrificed himself to save Eleven, and Hopper was “killed.” Hopper was the closest person to Eleven for nearly a year, and outside of Mike, her closest ally.

The trauma from that is likely what’s keeping her powers away. We also have to consider the guilt that Eleven must feel. If she had her powers, Hopper would probably still be alive. I’m not saying that’s true, but I’m sure she would feel that way.

Will El get her powers back in Stranger Things season 4?

That’s the big question, right? We’ll have to wait until Stranger Things season 4 premieres, but I have a few thoughts about this.

Ultimately, yes, Eleven should get her powers back. She’s the catalyst in this series, and she’s the x-factor that the humans have against the monster, The Mind Flayer, and anyone else. It would be a mistake not to give her powers back eventually, but it’s going to be a process.

The Duffer brothers and writers are not just going to pull something like this only to give El her powers back in the first episode of season 4. It doesn’t make sense to do that, and I think it would ring cheap to the audience.

As Millie Bobby Brown has mentioned on multiple occasions, it’s a good thing for Eleven to lose her powers. She has been using them, like we all would, as a crutch of sorts for three seasons. It’s time to let her see the world like everyone else, so she can learn what it means to live without and not take those powers for granted.

So, it made sense that Eleven lost her powers for a few reasons: El couldn’t immediately beat the Russians and The Mind Flayer again, she couldn’t immediately know that Hopper was still alive, and she needed to learn how to live without those powers.

We don’t know how exactly those powers will come back, but I think it’s safe to say that they will by the end of the season.
