Karen Fukuhara talks Kimiko and The Boys season 2

Karen Fukuhara, who some of you Netflix fans might recognize from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, stars as Kimiko in the Amazon original series The Boys. The new season, season 2, of the series premieres on Friday, Sept. 4.

Netflix Life had the opportunity to speak with The Boys star Fukuhara during a virtual press event. Fukuhara shared some expectations for Kimiko moving forward in The Boys season 2.

Kimiko was obviously a huge part of the first season of the series, and the character figures to be an even bigger part of the new season. Kimiko is the only one of the “Boys” with powers, which is obviously going to be key to stopping Homelander, The Seven and the rest of the Supes, assuming that’s the way the season goes.

“At the end of season one, we see Kimiko kind of becoming more of a part of the boys,” Fukuhara says. “There’s trust building, especially in the last episode. Everyone except for butcher helps, you know, come save Kimiko. So there’s a lot of trust-building there.

“In season 2, you’ll see all of them assembled together. They’ve been living in this dingy location with no shower. And so they’ve kind of created this bond. Even Kimiko and Hughie are becoming friends and all of that. So yeah, in the beginning of the season, I think, you see them all kind of like figuring their ways around one another, and then it progresses into something more, deeper and special.”

There’s no doubt Kimiko has been fully accepted into the group by Frenchie, but it’s convincing the others, like Hughie, Marvin aka Mother’s Milk, and of course, Butcher to trust her. And, of course, they have to earn Kimiko’s trust in return.

It’s clear that things have happened in Kimiko’s past that has made it difficult for her to trust others, and over time, hopefully, Kimiko will learn to trust the Boys as they learn to trust her.

The first three episodes of The Boys season 2 will be added to Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 4. The remaining new episodes will be released weekly (one per week) on Amazon.
