All eight seasons of the original Charmed series are leaving Netflix next month
We have some terrible news for fans of the original Charmed series. All eight seasons are set to exit Netflix in October.
The set date right now is Oct. 1, which is certainly going to be a blow to many fans of the series. Netflix has been the home of the show for the last five years. Many fans are going to be looking out for the new home for the supernatural series.
This does not affect the reboot of the series, which currently has two seasons on the streamer with the third season set to premiere on The CW in January 2021. The rebooted show will head to Netflix after each season and remain there for five years once the show ends.
This isn’t Netflix’s fault
Before you start shouting at Netflix for getting rid of the show, know that this isn’t going to be Netflix’s fault. At least, not solely!
Netflix doesn’t own the original Charmed. It’s owned by CBS Television Studios and is licensed to Netflix. That contract is likely coming to an end, so the two companies will be in negotiations to see if the contract can be extended.
It is possible that a contract deal will be negotiated and the series will remain on the streaming service, according to What’s On Netflix. However, keep in mind that this may not happen, so this is your last month to do a binge-watch on the streamer.
Where will the original Charmed go next?
Now the question is where Charmed will stream after it exits Netflix. In Canada, the series is on CBS All Access. It’s certainly possible that this could be the new home in the future. CBS Television Studios may want to put all its own content on its own streaming service.
The original show did air on The WB. It’s possible that WarnerMedia may make a deal, putting the show on HBO Max for a time. This is the home of CW shows Batwoman, Nancy Drew, and Katy Keene right now for streaming.
It’s annoying when our favorite shows leave Netflix, but it’s not Netflix’s fault.
Watch the original Charmed on Netflix while you still have a chance.
