The cast and crew starts filming Lucifer season 6 this fall

We have some good news to share about Lucifer! The cast and crew will resume filming season 5, part 2 on Sept. 24, 2020, according to a report from TV Line.

When production stopped in the spring, there were only a few days or so left of production on the season finale for season 5. Once that has finished, the cast and crew will move right into filming Lucifer season 6, according to the report.

This is the first we’ve heard about Lucifer starting production, and while Netflix and Warner Bros. TV did not comment, we’re hopeful that it’s true.

If they can finish filming season 5 without any further delays, fans will get to see the final eight episodes of season 5 a lot sooner than we were expecting.

Below, we shared our release date predictions for Lucifer season 5, part 2 and Lucifer season 6.

When will Lucifer season 5, part 2 be released?

If production is able to get off to a good start on Sept. 24 and wrap production without any significant delays, we’re looking at an early 2021 release date for Lucifer season 5, part 2.

Lately, we’ve been expecting a four to six-month gap between the end of production and the release date of a new season on Netflix.

Assuming season 5, part 2 wraps by early October, we could see the second half of the season sometime between February and the end of April 2021.

When will Lucifer season 6 be released?

Season 6 is starting production right after they finish filming season 5. Predicting the release date is pretty easy once we learn when production will finish. We’re expecting Lucifer season 6 will be 10 episodes, like the fourth season.

Season 4 started production in August 2018 and wrapped in December 2018, so production took about four months.

We’re expecting a similar timeline for Lucifer season 6 production.

If that happens without any major delays, season 6 will wrap in February or March 2021. Then, again, we have to wait about four to six months until the season 6 release date.

If all goes well, that puts the season 6 release date sometime in the fall of 2021. That’s about the earliest we’ll see the final season of the hit series.

Then, the debate becomes: will Netflix really release season 5, part 2 and season 6 within a few months of each other?

I honestly don’t know. I could see Netflix pushing season 6 back to the spring of 2022 just to space it out and give the show’s creative team and cast a final sendoff without doing back-to-back press and promotional stuff.

So, it’s possible we could get a pretty lengthy delay after season 5, part 2, but that remains to be seen. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Stay tuned for more news about the final episodes of season 5 and the final seasons of the hit series.
