There are so many shows and movies on Netflix, sometimes it’s difficult to keep track of what’s in their expansive viewing inventory. One movie available to watch on the platform is The Frozen Ground, a crime drama based on the murders committed by real-life Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen. It’s on the streaming service’s Top 10 this week, so let’s break the film down.
As reported by Independent, while Hansen appeared to be a mild-mannered bakery owner living in Anchorage, Alaska, he was actually a cold-blooded killer who was eventually confessed to slaying 17 women. The Frozen Ground also chronicles the efforts of the law enforcement officers investigating the case.

Without further ado, let’s get into the plot of The Frozen Ground.
The Frozen Ground summary
The Frozen Ground takes place in Alaska in the early 1980s. Vanessa Hudgens plays a sex worker named Cindy who is abducted by Hansen. After she escapes with the help of an Anchorage Police Department patrol officer, detectives dismiss her story about being kidnapped and raped by Hansen, who is seemingly just a family man and local business owner.
Nicolas Cage plays a state trooper named Jack Halcombe who is investigating a body found in the woods. As the police begin to make connections to other murders and disappearances, Cindy helps Halcombe start to build a case against Hansen.
The Frozen Ground also delves into Hansen’s modus operandi, which occasionally included flying his victims into the wilderness, where he would release them and proceed hunting them down.
