Netflix canceled shows: 5. Anne with an E

Anne with an E was canceled after three seasons on Netflix. The series was a joint production between CBC (Canada) and Netflix (International), and it premiered in 2018. The final season was added to Netflix in early 2020.

The show stars Annabeth McNulty as Anne of Green Gables. The show is obviously based on the book, Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It was adapted for TV by Moira Walley-Beckett.

We still don’t really know why Anne with an E was canceled. The reviews for the series were great, and it seemed to have a big fanbase. Usually, one of the joint networks decide to stop funding their portion of the series, and the network isn’t able to pick up the bill. I’m not saying that’s what happened here because I don’t know, but it could have happened.

Since the series was canceled, the fan support has been amazing. More than one million fans have signed the petition to save the series.

While we don’t know if that will happen, it’s clear the show has one of the biggest fan campaigns on its side. Hopefully, there’s a fourth season of the show or a movie in its future!
