It’s time to go back to Wentworth and see what the ladies are up to now. Wentworth season 8 is coming to Netflix next month.

There isn’t much longer to wait. All 10 episodes of the season will be available on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020.

There is a little bit of bittersweet news that comes with it. The eighth season, alternatively titled Wentworth: Redemption, is the penultimate season. In fact, the trailers made it clear that it was the start of the final two seasons, with the ninth and final season coming sometime in 2021. There will be 10 episodes to the final season, giving time to wrap up all the storylines.

The two-season final-warning renewal does help with planning out the storylines. The writers have 20 episodes to bring each character’s storyline to a rightful conclusion.

What to expect in Wentworth season 8

The eighth season picks up after the siege that took place at the end of the seventh season. Both prisoners and staff will need to rebuilt relations, and not just with each other. They’ll need to rebuild relations with those in their own groups, and that’s not necessarily easy.

It’s a standard season when it comes to goals and betrayals. We have those who want others dead and those who just want to see the world outside for the first time in years. Will everyone get their wishes? What happens when someone who is supposed to be dead turns up alive?

The big storyline is Joan Ferguson’s return. Wasn’t she buried alive? Well, that’s what it seemed, but you know what it’s like on TV shows. Never assume anything until you see that death definitely happen or you see a body. Wentworth season 8 certainly gives us plenty of insight into how she survived.
