Murder Mystery was truly the Netflix original film starring Adam Sandler that subscribers couldn’t get enough of. The Netflix movie hilariously reunited Jennifer Aniston with the famous comedian for a new movie fans would love to see more of in the future. Thanks to its success, the anticipation for Murder Mystery 2 from the dynamic duo soared.

Luckily for the fans who loved watching every minute of the blockbuster original movie, Netflix listened to the fans and announced plans for Murder Mystery 2 back in October of 2019.

Both Aniston and Sandler have gone on to receive significant critical acclaim for their efforts in more serious projects like The Morning Show on Apple TV+ and the indie favorite Uncut Gems. Their recent spark in popularity only continued to fuel the fire on the desire for Murder Mystery 2 to make its way to Netflix sooner than later.

Murder Mystery 2 release date on Netflix

On Jan. 18, Netflix revealed that Murder Mystery 2 will be released on Friday, March 31. It’s one of the many forthcoming tentpole movie releases for Netflix, as the streamer unveiled their upcoming slate of highly anticipated original movies for 2023.

It’s natural for a gap of a year or more to take place in between Netflix originals, whether it be TV shows or feature films. Prior to the release date announcement, it had been safe to assume that considering the first iteration released in 2019, Murder Mystery 2’s release date would be within the next two years.

Production on the sequel began back in February 2022 and went on to wrap in April 2022 in Paris, France. Now that we know the release date of March 31, we know the movie took about a year to complete in post-production.
