Work It is just one of the give good Netflix movies to watch this weekend

We’re getting into a new weekend, which means time to watch the Netflix movies that have dropped throughout the week. Is there anything for you this weekend?

The good news is that there’s been plenty dropping throughout the week. Whether you like YA rom-coms or you prefer some cheesy horror movies, you’re covered.

Here are five good Netflix movies to watch this weekend, Aug. 8-9.

Work It

We’ll start with the big YA rom-com release. Sabrina Carpenter stars as Quinn in Work It. All Quinn wants to do is get into a particular college. That means having some extracurricular activities on her application. So, she creates a dance squad and tries to win a major dance competition.

Easy, right? Except, Quinn can’t dance. At. All!

Pick of the Litter

If you’ve always wondered what it takes for a dog to become a guide dog, you’ll need to watch Pick of the Litter, which dropped on Netflix earlier in the week. The documentary takes us through what it takes from beginning to end.

Not all dogs will make it through as one of the guide dogs. Don’t feel bad for them. They get to go to loving homes anyway! The next time you see someone with a guide dog or training one, you’ll have a new appreciation.

The Magic School Bus Rides Again Kids In Space

The Magic School Bus is back. This is one of those Netflix movies for the whole family. The kids will love it for obvious reasons. The adults will just feel so much nostalgia and get to experience something from their past with their children.

This time, the kids head out into space. They on the run from a giant tardigrade, taking everyone on a wild adventure.

The Promise

The Promise is a beautiful romantic moment set in late 1914. Oscar Isaac plays medical student Michael who meets and falls in love with Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), a dance instructor. The problem is that Ana has a boyfriend, played by Christian Bale, whose sole thing is to expose the truth.

Around them, the Ottoman Empire crumbles. The world turns to war. Not only do they have a love triangle, but they have to deal with the devastation around them and get their people to safety.

We Summon the Darkness

Like horror movies? How about something on the cheesier side? We Summon the Darkness is a must. It’s a standard storyline for a horror movie: three friends travel to a party in a secluded country home only to come across a group of sadistic killers. They have to fight to make it out alive.

While there are certainly many tropes, there are some excellent graphics and moments. Alexandra Daddario shines in the lead role.
