A lot of us are probably in need of a good laugh right now. Or, maybe what we really need is a good cry. Either way, the Netflix romantic comedies have us covered. The streaming service has released a number of new original rom-coms in 2020, while buying the streaming rights to a few fan-favorite classics as well.

If you’re in need of the perfect Netflix romantic comedies for your next movie night, these are the best of the best.

1. The Kissing Booth 2

Netflix fans fell in love with The Kissing Booth upon its 2018 release and have been patiently waiting for the sequel. Now that the second installment of the teen rom-com is here, it brought even more tears (and laughs). Plus, hunky newcomer Taylor Zakhar Perez stole fans’ hearts with his breakout role.

2. Seriously Single

Seriously Single is a South-African rom-com you won’t want to miss. The ever-relatable story of being dumped takes center stage in the flick, where social media expert Dineo is forced to find herself. And we’re always here for a celebration of single-hood.

3. Almost Love

Almost Love will definitely tug at your heartstrings. Set in New York City, the film follows a group of friends through all their most tumultuous moments of their romantic and professional lives.

4. Banana Split

Dylan Sprouse is the star of Banana Split, one of Netflix’s newest and most popular rom-coms. Also starring Hannah Marks, the film is all about the trying transition between high school and college. While the film follows several loves stories, the importance of female friendship is its core takeaway.

5. The Half of It

High school can be tricky to navigate, but in The Half Of It, Ellie Chi (played by Leah Lewis) does her best to figure it out. Despite being what one might call a “nerd,” she befriends a school jock and helps him pen love letters to his crush. The ending of this film will probably take viewers by surprise!

6. Desperados

Desperados takes viewers on one wild journey. The film follows one woman on an action-packed journey to Mexico as she attempts to save her relationship. When her friends join the trip as well, they experience lots of shenanigans along the way.

7. Eurovision

Eurovision is definitely more com than rom. That being said, it’s a must-see for Will Ferrell fans.  He and Rachel McAdams are an unlikely (but perfect) duo in the film.

8. Someone Great

Someone Great is the perfect film to toss on for your Friday night girls’ night. There’s definitely some dramatic moments throughout (so grab the tissues), but the film is an instant rom-com classic.

9. Always Be My Maybe

It’s hard to mention Netflix rom-coms without name-dropping Always Be My Maybe. First released in 2019, it’s become a fan-favorite on the streaming platform. Between Ali Wong’s flawless acting chops, and several hilarious scenes from Keanu Reeves, it’ll definitely bring the laughs.

10. The Perfect Date

Another Noah Centineo rom-com? We’re here for it. While getting paid to take a girl on a date might be frowned upon, that’s exactly what he does in The Perfect Date. However, Centineo realizes the perfect date might not be so perfect after all.

11. To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before became a cult classic upon its release in 2018. When the sequel hit Netflix in 2020, fans couldn’t watch fast enough. Lara Jean’s relationship with Peter continued to grow in the sequel, but not without a few complications.

12. Ibiza

Viva la Barcelona! Ibiza takes fans on a wild adventure to Spain, after main character Harper is sent on a business trip there, and winds up falling in love.

13. Set It Up

If you’ve ever had an overbearing boss, Set It Up will be instantly relatable. The film follows the story of two overworked assistants who create a scheme to get their bosses off their back. However, their idea doesn’t exactly go as planned.

14. Definitely, Maybe

An oldie but a goodie. Definitely, Maybe is one of the most iconic rom-coms of the decade, so fans were thrilled when it made its way onto the streaming platform. It’s the kind of film that will keep you guessing until the end, and is chock full of quotable lines.

15. Always a Bridesmaid

It’s every girl’s nightmare: always being a bridesmaid but never the bride. The film follows protagonist Corina as she handles that very struggle, wondering when and if she’ll ever meet “the one.”

Next. To All The Boys 3 is not coming to Netflix in August 2020. dark
