A former Netflix star is now facing legal issues, as On My Block alum Ronni Hawk has been arrested for domestic abuse.
According to E! News, the 20-year-old actress, who played Olivia in the Netflix series, was handcuffed at 8:30 a.m. on July 31, and is now facing a felony charge (per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s records).
TMZ also reported on the incident, explaining that police were called and arrived at the scene to find an unidentified man with visible injuries, which lead to the actress being arrested. Reportedly, the two had a verbal argument which turned physical.
Ronni Hawk was reportedly released from jail the same day as her arrest on bond. She’s now expected to appear in court on December 11.
The Florida native has been at the center of controversy in the past, when On My Block fans rallied for her to be axed from the show due to accusations of racism. Ronni Hawk had allegedly also shown support for Donald Trump on Twitter in the past, which angered Netflix fans, considering she played a Mexican teenager whose parents had been deported.
Many viewers were happy to see Hawk gone by On My Block season 2, and expressed their relief on Twitter. It’s unknown if she was removed from the series because of the controversy, however, or for other unrelated reasons.
In addition to On My Block, Hawk is known for playing Rachel Diaz on Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Middle, Wendy on The CW’s Legacies, and Tiffany on CBS’ S.W.A.T. , among other roles.
Ronni Hawk has yet to make a public statement on her arrest.
