Netflix should officially renew The Umbrella Academy for season 3

The second season of one of Netflix’s most popular shows premiered last week, and fans are already itching for news on The Umbrella Academy season 3. The series revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted siblings with extraordinary powers, who reunite in the first season to investigate their father’s mysterious death and the threat of an impending apocalypse.

The finale of the first season left fans with quite a cliffhanger. After Vanya (Ellen Page) loses control of her powers and blows up the moon, triggering doomsday, Five (Aidan Gallagher) uses his ability to jump through space and time to turn back the clock.

However, the second season premiere revealed that Five made some miscalculations, leaving the Hargreeves siblings strewn across different dates in the early 1960s in Dallas, Texas.

Left to their own devices, the super siblings begin to forge their own lives in the past. Klaus (Robert Sheehan) becomes a cult leader with Ben’s (Justin H. Min) help, Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) gets married and works for the civil rights movement, Luther (Tom Hopper) is a prizefighter working for nightclub owner Jack Ruby (John Kapelos), and Diego (David Castañeda) is locked up in a mental institution due to his obsession with stopping the Kennedy assassination.

The Umbrella Academy is one of the best and most popular Netflix shows of the past few years, so it would make sense that it would be renewed for another season, especially after the jaw-dropping season 2 finale.

Though there was a report last week that the popular show has been renewed for season 3, Netflix has not officially announced anything yet.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 release date

The first season of the series was released on Netflix on February 15, 2019, and it was announced that TUA was renewed for a second season in April of that year. If that formula sticks, we can expect the announcement that the show will be renewed sometime in September 2020, and hopefully a release date will be soon behind!
