Who is The Umbrella Academy group known as The Sparrow Academy?

If you have not finished watching The Umbrella Academy season 2 yet, then stop reading. Come back once you have watched the season finale because we are about to talk about it, and more specifically, The Sparrow Academy.

At the very end of the season finale, our favorite family of dysfunctional superheroes managed to jump back to their own time of 2019. However, while they may have gotten back to their own time and in turn stopped the apocalypse from happening (again), not everything was the same as what it was.

Due to the changes The Umbrella Academy made in the 60s, Sir Reginald Hargreeves has formed The Sparrow Academy instead of The Umbrella Academy. In short, they are a group of seven children who were born on the same day and adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves.

In many ways they are very similar to The Umbrella Academy, only Sir Reginald believes they are better than, shall we say, “the original” children he chose. As we see in the season finale they are being led by Ben, who is not dead and is clearly Number One.

We don’t get a clear view of the other characters. From the brief glimpse, we get we can see five of them hidden in shadow and a green floating orb, which eerily looked like a miniature Borg Cube from Star Trek.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot known about The Sparrow Academy. This part of The Umbrella Academy story has not been released by Gerard Way. So, diving into the comics will not help you out.

We’re just going to have to wait until The Umbrella Academy season 3 is released which, fingers crossed, will happen and it will be released to the world much sooner rather than later.
