What you need to know about Hannibal season 4 release date and more

Ever since The Silence of the Lambs amazed audiences, the industry has struggled to develop another compelling version of the sinister cannibal. The TV series now available on Netflix surprised viewers with one of the best takes in recent memory, and after the third season ended, the anticipation of Hannibal season 4 is at an all-time high.

While many continue to enjoy episodes on Netflix, there is still a lot of speculation regarding another chapter. No official announcement has been released regarding Hannibal season 4.

At one point, it was known that the creators were in talks with other studios after its run at NBC was finished. But there hasn’t been much news since and showrunner Bryan Fuller did say it could take some time to get to Hannibal season 4.

There is no question there is a severe demand for Hannibal season 4, especially since Netflix subscribers are enjoying the show’s previous seasons available on the platform.

Hannibal season 4 release date

If Hannibal is revived for season 4, it probably won’t be anytime soon that we hear about a release date on Netflix or some other studio, as the show doesn’t quite have a home as of yet since its cancellation. All three seasons can be watched in their entirety on Netflix.

Hugh Dancy, one of the stars of Hannibal, mentioned in an interview in 2017 with TVLine that it could take four or five years to make Hannibal season 4 a reality. That would mean we are looking at something happening around 2021 or 2022 if that assumption holds up.

Considering the series has gotten a lot of attention since making its way to Netflix, season 4 does not seem like its utterly improbable, and it is not crazy to think Netflix could be the one to make this endeavor happen. But as of right now, there is no release for Hannibal season 4.

The coronavirus pandemic has put many shows that haven’t been canceled futures in jeopardy, so it’s hard to imagine Hannibal season 4 being on anyone’s top priority list. In the meantime, the series is available on Netflix.

Hannibal season 4 cast

No cast has been confirmed for Hannibal season 4, but it’s safe to say a few of the key players are up for another run. There is no way the show could continue without Mads Mikkelson, and the actor has stated that he would be delighted to return to the delicious role of Hannibal Lecter on Netflix or any other studio that decides to continue the show.

Hugh Dancy, who played Will Graham, the rival of the titular killer throughout the three seasons, has also indicated his desire to return if Hannibal season 4 is ever to happen.

Gillian Anderson, who played Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, Hannibal’s therapist, has also thrown her hat in the ring for Hannibal season 4. Given how fans saw her in the post-credits scene, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for her character.

Whether it’s Netflix or some other studio at the helm, it’s safe to say that their will be plenty of new and familiar faces in Hannibal season 4. Until new episodes arrive, fans can relive the talented casts’ most significant moments on Netflix.

Hannibal season 4 synopsis

No official synopsis has been released for Hannibal season 4. And fans shouldn’t expect to receive one anytime in the near future.

But after rewatching the entire affair on Netflix, we have a pretty good idea of what the future holds for Hannibal.

Will and Hannibal fell presumably to their demise, but it isn’t like either of these crafty individuals haven’t cheated death before. And the post-credit scene indicated that at least the titular character survived as Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier was prepared for an exquisite meal noticeably missing a certain appendage.

The apparent place the story would go would be to tackle an adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs, where an actress would be cast as Clarice Starling, who would go up against Hannibal Lecter in order to stop another serial killer. This isn’t something out of the left-field as showrunner Bryan Fuller has stated that he would definitely go this route for Hannibal season 4 if it ever does happen.
