Stranger Things: David Harbour should have been nominated for an Emmy

David Harbour should have been nominated for an Emmy for his work on Stranger Things.

Stranger Things has an outstanding cast who was snubbed again this year in regards to Emmy nominations. It is hard to understand why. Many of the cast members are young but possess a lot of talent, and, surprisingly, not one of them received a nomination. The series itself was nominated for eight much deserved Emmys, but it is quite surprising that David Harbour didn’t get a nomination this year.

Harbour plays Chief Jim Hopper, the local police chief that started season one as an unmotivated individual who would just rather things in his town stay calm and in little need of his services. Over the first three seasons, he has transformed into someone who would literally give his life for those he cares about.

Throughout the three seasons, Hopper has encountered many things he probably never dreamed he would deal with in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. In addition to the strange goings-on, he ends up adopting Eleven and becoming an overly protective father.

Harbour was nominated in 2017 and 2018 for Best Drama supporting actor. Although he didn’t receive the Emmy, the nomination alone is a nod to the acting talent Harbour has. His character has evolved into one that many fans consider their favorite Stranger Things character. The amount of work he has put into the character of Jim Hopper makes it quite a shock that he wouldn’t receive a nomination this year.

In September of 2019, Harbour posted on his Instagram that the filming for Black Widow had wrapped. Harbour plays Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian in the Black Widow film. This is a role fans are anxiously awaiting to see. Harbour’s other recent roles include the films, Hellboy, Netflix’s Extraction, and Suicide Squad.
