I think everyone can relate to the situation where you’ve had a long day of work, start browsing aimlessly through Netflix to find something new, and ultimately land on the best show in the world that you’ve seen several times—The Office. That’s why when news hit that the fan-favorite series would be leaving the streaming service, there was outrage. We still have a few months until we say goodbye to Dunder Mifflin in 2021, but it still stings nonetheless. Luckily for us, we’ve got Rainn Wilson here to make some jokes about it and (somewhat) lighten the mood.

Clearly taking inspiration from those who think the current COVID-19 pandemic is simply a conspiracy, Wilson (who played Dwight Schrute) took to Twitter with his own take. Obviously, 2020 hasn’t been anyone’s favorite year, and the beloved actor believes The Office being yanked away from us has something to do with it.

“You want a REAL CONSPIRACY, people?,” Wilson asked his followers last night. “Think about this: the world started going to s**t at EXACTLY the same time it was announced THE OFFICE was leaving @netflix.” I mean… he’s not wrong!

Of course, The Office fans started replying immediately to the fun tweet, with many people explaining that they bought the DVD box set of all seasons when they heard the news. Others took the time to get angry again, and some simply shared their favorite Dwight quotes and gifs.

The only good news about The Office leaving Netflix is that it won’t be totally unavailable for streaming come 2021. The reason why it’s leaving the platform is because NBCUniversal has debuted its own service, titled Peacock, which will be the new home to Michael Scott and the gang. So while you won’t be able to enjoy the show alongside binges of Stranger Things and The Umbrella Academy, it’ll still live somewhere.
