Paranormal: Netflix’s first Egyptian series wraps production
Netflix’s first Egyptian series, Paranormal, has finished filming
Production on Paranormal, the first Egyptian Netflix original series, has wrapped, according to a report from The National.
Creator Amr Salama confirmed the end of production on social media, and we’ve shared that below.
With a series name like Paranormal, you can probably already guess which genre it is! It’s a supernatural series, of course!
The upcoming Netflix series is based on a series of books by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik, an Egyptian author who wrote over 200 books.
He also holds an interesting place in the world of literature, as he has the honor of being the first modern Egyptian author of horror and science fiction.
We don’t have a lot of information about Paranormal yet. Thankfully, Netflix: has shared a synopsis for the original series, and we shared that with you below:
"“In the 1960s, hematologist Dr. Refaat Ismail unwillingly becomes a go-to guy for paranormal investigations. Based on the books by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik.”"
Netflix is classifying it under “Egyptian TV Shows,” “Middle Eastern TV Shows” and “TV Horror.”
We also shared the tweet from the show’s director, Salama, below. It is written mostly in Arabic, but it does include the hashtag “#ItsAWrap” in English.
We don’t know a release date yet. Usually, Netflix waits about four to six months from the end of production before a show is released. So, we could see the series by the end of the year, but it’s probably more likely that the show will be released in 2021.
When we have the release date, or when we learn any more information about Paranormal, we’ll be sure to let you know in a follow-up post.
While you wait for Paranormal, we recommend checking out these other Netflix originals from the region, Jinn and Al Rawabi School for Girls.
