Netflix’s fantasy drama Cursed premieres on Friday, July 17

Netflix’s latest show Cursed, which is pretty much a wrapped up present for the fans of 13 Reasons Why, The Witcher, Game of Thrones, and of course fantasy in general, is finally arriving at midnight PT tonight, i.e. Friday, 17 July.

We’re staying up late to watch the new fantasy series! What about you?

The plot of the series will revolve around Nimue, played by Katherine Langford, on a quest to become the powerful Lady of the Lake and also deliver an ancient sword. In her journey as a rebel, she’ll meet exciting characters – Arthur, Merlin, King Uther, to name a few.

The cast of the show includes Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgård, Peter Mullan, Lily Newmark, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Daniel Sharman, Sebastian Armesto, Emily Coates, Bella Daynes and Billy Jenkins.

Based on an illustrated novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, the Netflix series looks quite promising. The music and the graphics of the trailer grab the viewers’ attention at once and honestly the whole vibe of it pretty catchy. Will the sword choose a king or a queen? Check out the trailer below:

For those who are unfamiliar with the best-selling novel and its characters, the Lady of the Lake is an enchantress and a medieval legend who carries out multiple important tasks. She gives Arthur his sword Excalibur, enchants Merlin, and raises Lancelot after the death of his father.

The show, however, is a re-imagining of Wheeler and Miller’s book so fans can certainly hope to see some changes.

According to Netflix’s synopsis of the show, Cursed is a coming-of-age story of Nimue who will battle against the Red Paladins and emerge as a symbol of courage.

Even if fantasy isn’t exactly your cup of tea, the show is among the very few new ones coming up in this era of COVID and that should be reason enough for you to kick the boredom out and give this series a try!
