10 recently canceled Netflix shows that should have been renewed

Netflix has a reputation for canceling some great shows. While many Netflix shows get two, three, four, and even five seasons, some Netflix shows get canceled too soon.

In this list, you’ll find 10 recently canceled Netflix shows that should have been saved at the streaming network. For this list, I wanted to keep the list as recent as possible.

So, you won’t see Sense8 and all those older shows that Netflix canceled. Those Netflix shows absolutely deserved more seasons, and we’ve written about them at length.

Let’s talk about some freshly canceled Netflix shows starting with a fan favorite, Anne with an E!

Canceled Netflix shows: Anne with an E

Anne with an E is one of the most shocking Netflix cancellations in the last few years because the show seemed to be so popular. The series was also a Netflix-CBC co-production, so Netflix was only footing a portion of the cost, as well.

Anne with an E was developed by Moira Walley-Beckett, and it’s based on Anne of Green Gables written by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

The series stars Amybeth McNulty as Anne, a young girl living in the small town of Green Gables at the turn of the 20th century.

If you haven’t seen this series, we highly recommend it. There are three seasons streaming on Netflix right now, and the show was able to put together a finale of sorts, so it doesn’t end on a huge cliffhanger. Obviously, fans want more, but at least there was some resolution for Anne and other main characters.

Canceled Netflix shows: Tuca and Bertie

Tuca and Bertie premiered on Netflix in May 2019. It has a very similar look and feel to BoJack Horseman, one of Netflix’s best shows. And, that’s because the show was created by Lisa Hanawalt, who worked as a producer and on BoJack Horseman!

The series focuses on two 30-year-old bird ladies, voiced by Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, living in the same apartment building and just trying to get by. Steven Yuen also stars (voice) in the series.

Tuca and Bertie was really good, but I’m guessing not enough fans tuned in for the first season. And, then Netflix chose to cancel the series after one season.

But, it’s not all bad news! Tuca and Bertie is coming back for season 2 on Adult Swim!

I don’t think it will be, but I’m hoping Tuca and Bertie season 2 will eventually wind up on Netflix.
