Netflix needs to make The Old Guard sequel with Charlize Theron

The Old Guard was released at the beginning of July and is currently sitting at No. 1 on Netflix’s top 10 list. The film was highly anticipated by viewers, and it did not disappoint.

The Netflix original was action-packed. The storyline was very well executed, and the cast was excellent. Even with the backstory, the viewer never felt confused as to how things came to be.

This film is based on a comic book of the same name written by Greg Rucka, who also wrote the screenplay.

Charlize Theron plays Andy, the leader of an immortal army who possess regenerative healing potential. Theron is joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, and Luca Marinelli, who make up the immortal group of mercenaries. They are joined by newcomer KiKi Layne, who plays a character who only recently has discovered she is immortal.

The cast is rounded out by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Harry Melling, who are both on the opposite side of the immortals. Of course, bad things follow.

As you can see in the trailer, the immortal group has been around for centuries and, depending on the situation, has been on both the good and bad side of situations.

Their newest member is reluctant to just join up with them without having some answers to critical questions.

The film keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next. You find out some fascinating backstory information that makes it clear that a sequel is in order. The ending sets it all up to flow right into the next installment of the film.

They could do something truly amazing in a sequel to this film. Many story arcs could branch off from this first film.

With all of the filming shutdowns, it is hard to say if a sequel will be announced any time soon, but with the success of this Netflix original movie, it is most certainly in the works.
