Solo: A Star Wars Story is coming to Disney Plus on Friday, July 10

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits Disney Plus on Friday, July 10. You can start watching the movie at midnight ET on Friday!

Eight months after the launch of Disney Plus, you can finally use the service to stream each of the main nine Star Wars episodes as well as the two anthology films. After spending lots of time on Netflix, Solo: A Star Wars Story is the next big Disney tentpole to be added to the company’s streaming service. So if you’re still stuck at home, now is the perfect time to watch all 11 of these films!

Solo was previously available to stream on Netflix.

Solo is famous for being the reason why Lucasfilm scrapped their plans to release a new Star Wars film every year. Beginning with 2015’s The Force Awakens, plans were in place for a new episode every other year with an anthology film coming out the year in which there was no new episode. After TFA, Rogue One and The Last Jedi each grossed over one billion dollars, Solo’s meager $300 million box office number was low enough to cause the planned anthology films to be indefinitely pushed aside.

But this certainly wasn’t completely the fault of the movie itself. On top of a pile of hurdles to climb during production and pre-production, it had the unfortunate task of following up the most divisive Star Wars movie to date in The Last Jedi just five months after TLJ’s release. Instead of a full year to build up hype and excitement, Solo had a matter of months to get casual fans reinvested in the franchise, and it just didn’t work out.

On the bright side, though, it has garnered a very well-deserved following. The movie set up interesting characters like Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra and Woody Harrelson’s Beckett, as well as Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover giving great performances as old fan favorites. Ehrenreich embodied the spirit of Han Solo, all while bringing something of his own to the character.

This movie has such a fervent following that fans are clamoring for more. There are random days when you will see #MakeSolo2Happen trending on Twitter.

And honestly, the movie deserves it. Even with everything it went through on its way to the big screen, it is a very solid and well done movie. It’s well worth a watch, and hopefully is able to have its story continued on Disney Plus.

You can watch Solo: A Star Wars Story with your Disney Plus subscription.
