Ahead of its July 31 release date, The Umbrella Academy season 2 has arrived, giving us a look at what is next for our seven extraordinary humans.

The Netflix original series, based on the Dark Horse Comics series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, premiered over in February 2019, and fans have been waiting for season 2 since! The highly anticipated second season is almost here!

The first season of The Umbrella Academy ended with the ultimate cliff-hanger. The apocalypse was not stopped, and the world was in the middle of being destroyed. Worst of all, we learn one of the members of the superhero family is the one who caused it, unintentionally.

The dysfunctional superhero family manages to escape at the last moment. They travel back through time, and that’s where the season ends!

As teased in the season 2 trailer, as a result of Five using his powers to escape Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse, the adopted siblings have been scattered across time. Having found themselves stuck in the 1960s, the siblings have each assimilated to the time in various ways but when the threat of the apocalypse arrises once more, they’ll have to find a way to reunite, find a way to stop doomsday from coming and make their way back to the future where they belong.

Focused on a group of adopted siblings, each with their own unique superpower, their adopted father brought them up with the aim of saving the world. As they grow up, the bonds of the family begin to strain, and eventually, everyone goes their separate way.

It isn’t until their adopted father passes away that they come together once more. They embark on a journey to understand how their father passed. Only to be put on a path where they must stop the impending apocalypse.

It’s a feat that would be much simpler if not for The Commission, an organization that can travel through time and are tasked with ensuring predetermined events come to pass. In this case, the apocalypse.
