Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with these Netflix shows!

The pandemic has forced us to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and other monumental events in very different ways. This Independence Day, we will need to find unique ways to celebrate while maintaining social distancing. Luckily, there are a bunch of Netflix shows to enjoy while celebrating our nation’s independence in the comfort of your own home.

For me, it doesn’t take much to bring me to tears or swell with pride while watching a movie or show that has any little patriotic scene. While there are many movies that fall into this category here, we are going to focus on episodes in specific series for this list.

Below, we shared a list of Netflix shows that feature a great patriotic or Fourth of July scenes.

Let’s get the list started with Stranger Things!

5 good Netflix shows to watch on Fourth of July weekend

Stranger Things

Netflix has the first three seasons of Stranger Things available for streaming. If you haven’t watched yet, this long weekend will give you an excellent opportunity to watch the series in its entirety.

You can specifically check out the episode from Stranger Things season 3, “Chapter Seven: The Bite,” which features what starts as a fun 4th of July celebration.

Seeing that this is Hawkins, Indiana, it doesn’t remain in that feeling of fun and celebration for long, which is why we watch the show, for all that excitement and drama!

The Office

We only have six more months of The Office on Netflix before it moves to NBC’s streaming service, Peacock. You’d better get to binge-watching, again, before it is removed.

This weekend, be sure to check out season 2, episode 7, “The Client,” where Jim and Pam have an impromptu rooftop dinner “date” while Dwight and Kevin play with fireworks in the distance.

Another episode that isn’t directly related to the Fourth of July but is a fun beach episode is season 3, episode 23, “Beach Games.” The whole office goes to the lake to participate in games to see who is worthy of taking Michael’s position as Regional Manager.

Be sure to catch The Office before it leaves Netflix at the end of 2020.

The West Wing

Netflix has the entire series of The West Wing available for streaming. You can’t get much more patriotic than a classic political drama.

In season 5, episode 3 of The West Wing,  “Jefferson Lives,” we are treated to a spectacular fireworks show at the conclusion of the episode. This episode focuses on the nomination of a new vice president.

If you have never checked out this series, this weekend is a perfect time to do so, especially if you’re into drama and politics.

Parks and Recreation

Another series that is great to watch over the Fourth of July weekend is Parks and Recreation. Even though this is a comedy, you can’t get much more patriotic than Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson.

Be sure to check out season 5, episode 1, “Ms. Knope Goes to Washington.” As the title suggests, Leslie, along with Andy, goes to America’s capital. And while they are off to visit DC, Ron Swanson hosts a BBQ.

While the episode isn’t actually a Fourth of July episode, it has a patriotic feel to it as does most of the series episodes.

Portlandia

In season 5, episode 5, Portlandia gave us an episode entitled “4 of July.” This episode includes a BBQ, as well as the quest for a spectacular fireworks display.

Jane Lynch guest stars as a BBQ planner for Kath and Dave. Meanwhile, the mayor looks to provide a spectacular fireworks display for the citizens.

How ever you plan to celebrate Fourth of July this year, keep these series and episodes in mind for when you just want to kick back and relax.
