Since we won’t be hitting the movie theaters anytime soon, we have to take whatever new movies we can get wherever we can get them. This month, Netflix debuts a number of its own original movies as well as some recently released titles you probably missed. Banana Split stars Hannah Marks and Liana Liberato as April and Clara, two teenage girls who become fast friends. However, Clara dates April’s ex-boyfriend, Nick (Dylan Sprouse), which threatens to complicate their bond.

Banana Split comes from director Benjamin Kasulke, who made his feature directorial debut with the teen comedy. The film screened at various film festivals, beginning with the Los Angeles Film Festival in September 2018, and was first released in March 2020. Banana Split has been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 88%, definite bragging rights for a movie that wasn’t released widely and will be a gamble pick for most browsing Netflix. Don’t miss the movie’s major streaming debut when it arrives on your watch list at the end of the month on July 26.
