The Office is leaving Netflix in exactly 6 months

The Office will leave Netflix for Peacock at the end of 2020
We have some bad news to share with fans of The Office: You only have six months left to watch The Office on Netflix.
It’s officially July 1, which means we’re halfway through 2020. It’s been reported that The Office will leave Netflix at the end of 2020, so you have until Dec. 31, 2020, to watch the most popular show on Netflix. As soon as the clock strikes midnight (Pacific Time), The Office will be removed from the streaming service.
Netflix has not announced the official date that the series will leave the streaming service, so there’s a chance we could have less time to watch the series on the streaming service. But, it’s almost always worked that new streaming deals for The Office and other major shows end on the last day of the year.
We’ve known The Office is leaving Netflix for a while now. It’s been rumored to happen for several years. The Hollywood Reporter reported the series will make its exit from the platform in June 2019. Netflix confirmed the news on Twitter on the same day.
Knowing the show is leaving will not take away the sting for many subscribers when the show leaves. The series, overall, seems to be the most popular show on Netflix by most metrics, although those are usually unconfirmed by Netflix.
The Office won’t be gone from streaming services for long, though. Instead, the minute it’s pulled from Netflix, the series will likely be added to Peacock, NBC’s new streaming service. Will viewers follow the series to Peacock? That’s the big question.
If you love The Office, like me, and don’t want to subscribe to Peacock, you can download every episode of The Office for the cost of a few months of Peacock. You can probably by the full DVD box set with special features for even cheaper.
Understandably, fans are unhappy The Office is leaving Netflix, but it’s really not Netflix’s fault. This is one of the most-watched shows on right now, and NBC wants to use the series to build up its new streaming service. And, they are spending A LOT of money to make that happen. THR is reporting NBC is paying $100 million per year to stream the series for five years.
You still have plenty of time to watch the series before it leaves Netflix, so I hope I don’t come off as being too dramatic. But, it’s important to keep in mind that the hit series is going to be leaving soon. And, if you want to do binge-watch the series once or twice or 15 times or even 50 times before it leaves Netflix, you better get started soon!
We’ll be sure to let you know more information about the hit series leaving Netflix when we find out! Stay tuned!
