Cursed season 1: Netflix releases new trailer for its latest adventure series

Netflix’s Cursed season 1 trailer is full of adventure, action, and magic

The most recent trailer for Cursed season 1 has been released, and the more I know about this new Netflix series, the more excited I am to watch it. The first season of the series will release on Netflix on July 17.

The trailer gives us a Hunger Games/Lord of the Rings feel to it. There are fights, magic, a wizard with swords and some horses thrown in, as well as tons of action to keep the viewer engaged.

Starring Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) as the main heroine Nimue. She is on a quest to find Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgård), and deliver an ancient sword to him. The synopsis states this is a retelling of the Lady of the Lake that is associated with King Arthur.

In the series, Nimue does encounter a young Arthur (Devon Terrell), a humble mercenary as an ally.  It will be interesting to see where this story takes the tale of King Arthur.

Nimue becomes the face of courage and rebellion against the Red Paladins. Very similar to the story of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games trilogy.

As you can see from the trailer, the action and adventure are never-ending. The power of the sword will corrupt those who wield it. Sounds a bit like the ring in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The Red Paladins, led by King Uther (Sebastian Armesto), have somehow decided they are to wipe magic out of the world. And, it looks like he has an army to back up his plan.

The series is based on the illustrated novel of the same name written by Thomas Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller. They worked together to create the series and serve as executive producers.  Wheeler told Entertainment Weekly “Realizing these characters from page to screen was a unique and thrilling creative challenge,”

I, for one, am very excited to see the next installment of Netflix’s fantasy genre. After the success of The Witcher, the bar has been set high, but from the looks of this trailer, Cursed may just be able to meet the challenge.
