Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance coming to Netflix in July

The Last Dance is coming to Netflix in July 2020

While international Netflix subscribers were have been able to enjoy Michael Jordan’s much-talked-about documentary The Last Dance for several months now, the same could not be said for those located in the U.S. As part of the co-production agreement between ESPN and Netflix, The Last Dance aired exclusively on ESPN from April 19 through May 17 before receiving an encore presentation weekends on ABC.

Although there was speculation of whether the title would head to ESPN+ when the time came for the docuseries for streaming, Netflix has confirmed The Last Dance will stream stateside on its service as well. In fact, the series is coming in late July!

As confirmed by Netflix, all ten episodes of The Last Dance will be available for streaming beginning Sunday, July 19 — exactly three months after the series first premiered on ESPN.

Throughout its run on ESPN, the series managed to make ESPN history becoming the network’s most-watched documentary. Of course, helping the documentary was the fact that it aired during a period of time when all sports leagues had put their seasons on pause leaving viewers hungry for sports.

The 10-episode series chronicles Jordan’s final year with the Chicago Bulls during the 1997-98 season, a season which concluded with the team’s sixth NBA title in eight years. Through the series, fans were offered a look behind the curtain at the life and career of one of the NBA’s greatest players.

Considering the popularity of the show during its run on ESPN, The Last Dance is sure to break into Netflix’s Top 10 and serve as the perfect weekend binge for any basketball fan who hasn’t yet had the chance to enjoy the series.
