Disney Plus releases Hamilton: The Musical official trailer

Disney Plus has released the official trailer for Hamilton: The Musical

Disney acquired the film rights to Hamilton: The Musical with the hopes of a release in theaters. Sadly, due to the shut-downs during the pandemic, Disney has had to reorganize that plan and instead provide a streaming release on Disney Plus that will air on July 3.  And, according to the LA Times that is fifteen months earlier than the planned October 2021 theater release.

Fans are okay with this as long as the film is released. Many people have already been fortunate enough to see the stage production. But, for those of us who have only been able to experience the musical via the soundtrack, this is something that we have been looking forward to. We all need something to brighten our lives during this crazy world we find ourselves in.

Hamilton is Broadway Musical that was the brain-child of Lin-Manuel Miranda. The production tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton’s story contains many ups and downs, and the musical includes many of these moments, making it a very dramatic telling.

The music is outstanding and uses R & B, pop, soul, Hip-Hop, as well as traditional musical show tunes to tell this compelling story.  Hamilton won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in 2016, after winning 11 Tony Awards that same year, including Best Musical. The streaming count for this soundtrack beats others by a considerable amount. In December 2019, the streaming count was 1,267,301,264, according to Playbill. 

The Disney Plus release of Hamilton is a performance that was filmed in 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The feature will include all of the original cast consisting of Miranda along with Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Leslie Odom, Jr., Christopher Jackson, Jonathan Groff, Phillipa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Okieriete Onaodowan, and Anthony Ramos.
