Danny Masterson, who starred in The Ranch, was charged with rape
Danny Masterson, the former star and producer of the Netflix original series The Ranch, has been charged with raping three women, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
The three charges are related to three separate alleged incidents between 2001 and 2003, according to the report. THR is also reporting that, if convicted, Masterson faces a maximum of 45 years in prison.
At the time of his dismissal from The Ranch, Masterson claimed the alleged incidents had been investigated and no wrongdoing was found.
In the first two and a half seasons of The Ranch, Masterson starred as Rooster, the brother of Colt Bennett (Ashton Kutcher). After an investigation into several sexual assault claims against Masterson, he was fired from the Netflix series right before Part 4 premiered on Netflix in December 2017.
Because of the production schedule, Masterson had already appeared in every episode of Part 5. Instead of reshooting those episodes without him, The Ranch kept Masterson in the episodes of Part 5, which premiered on the streaming service in June 2018. He never returned after Part 5.
There was a lot of controversy about Masterson’s dismissal at the time, and many fans wanted Netflix to change their decision and bring Masterson back on the show.
After Masterson was fired from The Ranch, the series continued for two more seasons on Netflix. The series wrapped production in early 2019, and the final episodes were added to Netflix in January 2020. There are four seasons of the series on Netflix right now.
