Lucifer not expected to have SDCC at Home panel as result of DC FanDome Event

With a release date for season 5 unknown, there has been buzz growing that Lucifer could make its triumphant return to SDCC after a four-year break — having last appeared at the convention in 2016 — as a way to promote the series latest season and perhaps shine a light on what’s to come.

Although the stars seemed to have aligned due to the delayed arrival of Lucifer season 5, the Warner Bros. produced drama is not expected to return to San Diego Comic-Con as part of the 2020 SDCC at Home event. However, there is a major silver lining to the story which should bring excitement to fans.

While Lucifer is not expected to make its return to SDCC as part of July’s SDCC at Home event, the good news for Lucifans is the series will be featured as part of the newly announced DC FanDome event hosted by Warner Bros.

DC Announces DC FanDome event featuring Lucifer, The Flash and more DC TV shows

Looking to bring fans a unique experience in a year that has seen the cancellation of most in-person pop culture events and conventions, Warner Bros. has announced a 24-hour virtual fan experience that looks to celebrate the entire DC Universe including its hit Netflix drama.

While it remains uncertain what Lucifer‘s role in the convention will be, Warner Bros. has promised fans the DC FanDome event will include anticipated announcements, exclusive footage, and discussions with casts and creators. Considering how much is unknown about the show’s future, it seems safe to speculate as to whether the show’s season 5 release date or trailer might drop during the event. Who knows, maybe Warner Bros. will even surprise us with some renewal news!

In addition to Lucifer, the event will include content built around a variety of DC movies and shows including Aquaman, The Batman, Batwoman, Black Adam, Black Lightning, DC Super Hero Girls, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, DC’s Stargirl, Doom Patrol, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Pennyworth, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Teen Titans GO!, Titans, Watchmen, Wonder Woman 1984, Young Justice: Outsiders, and the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League.

The event will kick off at 10 am PT on Aug. 22 and will be comprised of six unique areas that aim to bring fans unique content they won’t find anywhere else. For a look at what to expect, here’s a preview of the DC FanDome layout, per Deadline:

Considering it’s been four years since Lucifer had a proper appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s great to see the series included among the DC FanDome event.

While we’re hoping Netflix will have gifted us with news on season 5 by the time the DC FanDome event is hosted in late August, there is a chance we might have to wait until the event arrives on Aug. 22 to find out the official season 5 release date or news on whether season 6 is in the cards.

Although it seems impossible to potentially have to wait until Aug. 22 for Lucifer season 5 (or season 6) news, the good news is it at least seems we should finally receive some form of news during the DC FanDome event!
