As Lucifer fans await news on the season 5 release date and hold out hope for season 6, star D.B. Woodside has issued a telling statement that seems to suggest good news is around the corner.

In a tweet addressed to Lucifans, Woodside promised that good things are happening behind the scenes and asked fans for their continued patience. While no specific aspects were mentioned, it’s easy to speculate that the good things Woodside is alluding to might be an official season 6 renewal and official premiere date for the show’s upcoming fifth season.

After dropping on Netflix in May 2019, Lucifer became a breakout hit and even managed to break the Binge Report’s record for the most consecutive weeks as a trending series.  Netflix was quick to renew the show for a fifth season; however, the season 5 renewal came with a bittersweet note as Netflix announced it would also be the show’s last.

In the months that have passed, fans have anxiously been awaiting news on the future of Lucifer including both the planned release date for season 5 as well as news on whether season 6 might still be in the cards. While it’s been a long hellatus with little information released from Netflix, D.B. Woodside’s tweet could be an indication that Netflix might finally gift fans with the news they’ve been patiently waiting for.

If Lucifer is to continue beyond season 5, it seems safe to assume season 6 renewal news would come ahead of or alongside news of the season 5 release. After all, it would be an injustice to fans to promote season 5 as the show’s last only to renew the series days or weeks later.

While there’s no exact timeline on when an announcement might finally be made by Netflix, it seems safe to say we’re getting closer and closer to finally receiving an update on the fate of Lucifer and to learning when season 5 will release.
